Garden of Timelessness, 1996
Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial Park, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Unrealized proposal, competiton semi-finalist. Maquette shown.
Granite, stainless steel, native Pennsylvania plantings.

This work proposes to combine two 4' granite stones to represent the idea of the bond of mutual dependency formed when one saves the life of another. The names of the awardees are etched on stainless steel bars welded to form a screen.

Quotations from people who have been awarded the Medal are inscribed on a metaphoric "river" of stainless steel surrounding the garden. These statements are self-less and humble: "I only did it to save my friends' lives." "I never thought about it."
